Day Seventeen Tuesday 3rd October

Second last breakfast at the Drayton Court Hotel. I try the Omelette with Mushrooms and Spinach while the girls stick with bacon and eggs. Since this morning we are going to the Borough Market which is like a foodie heaven I probably shouldn't have filled up so much.

Anyway, we get ourselves together and with Mel leading the way we make our way to London Bridge station. The Market is about 100 meters from there. As soon as you walk into the place you are hit by a sensory overload of fabulous smells. I didn't expect so many people walking around eating foods from all around the world. There were long lines at many of the food stalls. The paella line went on for ages. It really is a bit of a treat just looking at the food. The girls had strawberries and chocolate and then Melody bought herself a gnocchi dish and after tasting it I followed suit. It was delicious but I couldn't finish it being not so long before having breakfast. From there we checked out a couple of Harry Potter locations but couldn't really make them out since they were now just restaurants.

Decide to take a slow walk in the sunshine across London Bridge and up to Liverpool Station. Then in a matter of minutes, it was raining Again we went out with our umbrellas. As we dashed from doorway to doorway we came across Leadenhall Market which was also a scene from Harry Potter. And if to confirm that there is a Harry Potter tour group standing in the centre. I love the Octopus tentacles coming out of the windows. Even more impressive is the Lloyds building next door which looks like something out of Doctor Who and the future. All gun metal and elevators on the outside. Looks amazing.

Make our way back to the hotel for a chill out because tonight we are going to the theatre.

After a pause, we go downstairs and have a drink and share some beef nachos and chips before jumping on the train to Victoria Station. On the district line and quite a few stops. We're off to see Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.

When we get in the theatre we are up high in the dress circle with a great view of the stage. Bit squashy on the legs but the show is very entertaining and I thoroughly enjoy it. The audience is really engaged and sometimes the cheering is like a rock audience. Defying Gravity is the stand-out song. There always needs to be a song that sells a musical and that's the one. The stage looks amazing. Alexa Khadime and Lucy St Louis were standouts as Elphaba and Glinda. Great night at the Theatre.

Get back to the hotel around 11.30pm. Another fantastic day in London.
