Day Nineteen Thursday 5th October

Last day in London and although we have to get up at the horrible hour of 5am it's really not that bad. Knock on the door that divides our rooms and the girls are up. Melody is packing but Ruby is staying in bed. She isn't coming home with us.

I thought it would be good to catch the train to the airport. Cheap, fast and a 3-minute walk from the hotel. Melody has other ideas though and orders an Uber. She has offered to pay so I can't argue really. We get our stuff to the doorway and say our last goodbye to Ruby. It's kind of sad to say goodbye. Big hugs all around and we're down the lift and out on the street.

It's a bit of a drive to the airport. Twice as long as the train really but I guess a lot more comfortable. And we get dropped off at the front of the Terminal. Because my case doesn't look like it will make it without the zipper coming apart I get it wrapped in plastic. 16 quid. Ouch.

After a bit of waiting around we are on the plane. Mel is in a different row but the lady next to me is fine to swap. So we have the end seats again. Fantastic. I love the end seats. No one behind. Not having to worry about putting the seat back. And breakfast straight up! Two films. The new Wes Anderson and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Even the Bluetooth works. And flights now have WiFi so I send a message while flying over Dubai.

In Singapore, it's a bit of a wait but when we get on the plane we find we have front row seats. Massive leg room. Stretch out and relax. Excellent. I realise I should have slept on the previous leg of the journey because now we are flying through the daytime. I'm gonna end up paying for that with heaps of Jet Lag. I read and we're soon back in Melbourne. A quick shop in Duty Free and we're out. But wait! Where is my Laptop bag? Sitting in the Duty Free shop. I went to the Border Force and explained what happened. A woman overhears our conversation and says it's sitting near the checkout. Border Force discussed it and although they told me it would be a while they found a junior guy to go and retrieve it. The guy hands it back to me but he must be in training because his supervisor gives him instructions on how to give it back. I have to list a few of the things that would be in there. Laptop. Too obvious. A book. Title? In Perfect Harmony. And they let me go. Mel is waiting with all the bags. She really thinks I'm old today.

Ethan turns up in my car to pick us up and that's it. The adventure is over.

Until next time.
